A Fresh New Look, Fountains, Urns and Facades!

Bellingrath Gardens and Home near Mobile, Alabama is a legacy that continues to pleasure the eye and excite the senses especially now that it features a newly restored cast iron fountain by Robinson Iron. How and why it came to be there begins with Mickey Tuite, Operations Director for Bel Air Mall. The large-scale fountain, originally made by Robinson Iron for the entrance to Bel Air Mall fifteen years earlier, needed to be removed to allow for an expansion. Mickey offered the fountain to Bill Barrick at Bellingrath.

Warren Fountain

“Wildlife Fountain”

Robinson Iron was approached by GRO-Warren’s executive director Chris Cheronis with a request. Design a fountain showcasing local heritage wildlife - specifically deer! “In the thirty years I’ve been designing fountains for the company, said Robinson designer Wayne Fuller, I don’t believe I’ve ever been asked to place deer on a fountain”. As it turns out the deer look very impressive, especially as part of downtown Warren, Pennsylvania’s newest centerpiece.

If you haven’t already heard, the Retirement Systems of Alabama owns and operates 26 golf courses located at 11 sites around the State of Alabama. “The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail” is named for the famous golf course architect who designed many of these sites. Three of the Trails most popular courses are located at Capitol Hill in Prattville just 13 miles north of Alabama’s State Capitol. Golf  Magazine has called the “Judge” one

An update! You may remember portions of this article ran in “Portfolio” Fall 2009. The project has since been completed and we thought you’d like to see the results. The ground floor facades’ understated elegance is a perfect fit for such a grand address The Legacy at Millennium Park is a 72 story skyscraper in Chicago Illinois designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz for Mesa Development and built by Walsh Construction.
