Waterjet cutting uses a highly pressurized stream of water containing an abrasive granular material to cut through solid metal plate. Thicknesses up to one inch can be cut in a very precise and creative manner with no heat deformity or discoloration of the metal. Anything that can be drawn can be cut giving the designer a freedom of expression limited only by the medium and the imagination.
Both silhouetted and cut-out shapes through digital manipulation can take on a photographic quality. This extremely graphic effect gives life to an otherwise flat surface. Even artistic drawings can be made with variations in line width and texture. These animated cut-outs coupled with interesting finishes are a great alternative to more expensive dimensionally modeled castings.
