The Village of Sherburne is an historic settlement in upstate New York. As part of the restoration of their antique cast iron fountain Robinson Iron is sculpting a replica of the Boy with Staff that stood atop it. Referencing a scaled image of the piece the sculptor builds-up clay until the form takes shape. Once it is finished the patternmakers can begin to apply their art and soon the fountain will be recast and on its way home to Champ Park.

The completed figure will hold a cup spouting water.

The wooden staff shown in these photos will be cast separately and welded to the figure. Applied metal straps will complete the piece.

“…a side view…”

“…another aspect of the figure.”

An historic photograph of the Champ Park fountain serves as documentation for the restoration.
